  1. Any walking on the pebbles will wear away the weed fabric. It's not designed for traffic use. You need to use heavyweight woven ground fabric like the type used for greenhouse flooring or erosion control mats. Most good landscape supply houses carry this material.

  2. The fabric has to be double thickness (folded twice over) otherwises weed seeds manage to get through the tiny holes that are for water to drain away.If a dog runs around then a very strong membrane needed

  3. The weeds that are growing are probably germinating on top of the weed fabric below the small pebbles.  This small amount of space can support the root systems of many weeds/plants.  I would try spreading Preen weed killer liberally over the pebbles every spring.  This product stops the germination of " new " weeds and is pretty safe.  I think one applicaiton lasts for 3 months.  Good luck

  4. Weeds can take root without soil....it grows on top of mulch or pea gravel as a rule and not necessairly poking through the fabric.  It would take a major investment to purchase a professional grade fabric.

  5. try an old strip of carpet its very good weed control and it also drains well
