Question:

I left My Turtle Outside In A Box Outside? Now It's Gone?

I just left it outside to go get some food for it, and when I came back out it was gone. I left it for like 10 or 20 minutes, and when I came back the box was like 3 feet away from where I originally put it and the turtle was no where to be found. I have like an open backyard to the forest, so we checked our backyard but we couldn't check the forest. Are turtles fast, is there still hope? Any tips on calling it back? I really sort of miss him.

  1. aw yeah turtles can excape easily out of anything thats shorter than 8 inches how big was this box?

if it was really deep at least 12'' that maybe  something took it

if it was about 5'' or less it crawled out

this has happend to me many times

all you can do is find another turtle and this time you will learn and put it in a BIGGER box =)

  2. You might try putting his favorite food out.  If he's still around he might get it.  If you see him again have someone watch the yard and see where he goes next time so you know where to look even if he hides.

  3. I feel bad for you. Generally turtles can get way out of the area in a half hour. I think if you really want to try something put a bunch of bait out in different spots. If in one spot the bait is missing put more in that same spot and try to watch it. But that may not work.

  4. the turtle does not want to be your pet and wants to live in the wild like it did before you came along.  turtles are great escape artists.  i hope he/she makes a great escape.

  5. you need to get a rabbit, train him to run laps and end up at home, maybe the turtle will get in and beat him

  6. There is still hope for finding him. right now he will try to find the nearest body of water so if there is one around check there.  If not he is just as lost as you are with finding him. He probably headed to the forest.  Just keep looking like crazy. In the future never leave your turtle unattended other than leaving him safely in his aquarium.  good luck i hope you find him.

  7. They are slow, but 10-20 minutes they can still get way out of sight!  Every minute since than, he could be a LONG way away.  But sounds like he'll be okay in the forest with lots of room and food to eat.  I am sure he's having a great time being free.

  8. Thats so funny because the same exact thing happened to me with my hampster. It actually chewed a hole through the box though. As for getting it to come back, i dont think thats going to happen hun. sorry

  9. that happened to my turtles too, my neighbor told me that a bird ate it =[ luckily one was a boy and one was a girl, because they laid eggs and i had baby turtles =] it was cute so there was good and bad.
