chris brown is a nice artist that throws in smooth, hot beats as well as solid lyrics (like the song: forever)

you also might want to check out kevin lyttle (although he's kinda old now but the song: 'turn me on' is good)  

and akon of course has trippy beats with amazing lyrics (like the song: 'wake it up')
