then i talked to my brother and he said he wouldnt let any of his friends date me just because of the awkwardness. i told him it was selfish and not fair. he said none of them would date me because they know my brother would be pissed. im pretty sure the guy likes me back but he doesnt want to start a relationship because of my brother. i want to tell the guy that i like him so maybe something would happen but i dont want him and my brothers friendship to end. how can i date this guy without having my brother be pissed?

my boyfriend was good friends with my brother about three years ago. and me and my boyfriend used to talk on the computer all the time, we hung out for a while at one point in time then lost contact and a year and a half ago we started hanging out and have been dating since then :]

so just talk to him, your brother may not be too happy but you can still talk to the guy and see what happens from there.

your brother's really selfish totally. If i were you i would tell him off, nothing is going to be awkward about it, he has to accept you for where you are now and he should appreciate you, because you're moving to this segment of life where you're experiencing a love one.

If he doesn't appreciate that why in the world does he deserve to be your own brother? Perhaps make him read this from me, and i don't want your brother's friendship to have a tragic ending as well but he should learn that you have a least your own decisions to make in life, and he can't ruin this opportunity just because of the awkwardness he thinks of between you and his friend

If your brother's friend will be happier with you, then your brother should be happy for his friend. Tell the friend you like him, and see if he likes you back.

I can see how it'd be awkward for your brother though. maybe he thinks if you date his friend long enough, that you'll kiss in front of him, and he doesn't wanna see that. Or when his friend is over your house, his friend will ignore your brother for you. So your brother couldn't really hang with him, if he's entertaining you. He doesn't want to lose having fun hanging out with him.

So you and your brother could try a compromise. Tell him, you wont hog him all the time. And since you already like a guy, the only one making things awkward is your brother.
