I give the same advice to everyone, if you like them, tell them! It's alright saying 'but i don't know if they like me back'. You live once, and it will do you good to get some practice in ;) Nah but on a serious note, go for it, just ask him out as a friend and see how things develop, make it clear you like him, you'll tell if he likes you by his reaction!

I was in the exact same position. I really liked one of my best friends who is/was a lot hotter than me and i told him i liked him and things became so akward and we've never been that close since and even though we very nearly went out, he didn't want to ruin what we had so it was a huge disaster.Your circumstances will probably be a lot different but i think the first thing you should do is try and get someone to talk to him first, that way you can be kind of sure before jumping staright in the deep end.

don't do anything but be your usual self....if you are not in his league, the friendship will end on its own...so don't do anything to either move it forward or to end it.
