I'm supposed to go tonight at 6 to meet up with this kid at the mall. He's from another town and he's 18. I'm 16. But my friend was going to meet up with me at 7. but for some reason my mom doesn't believe me and is making so much drama out of a trip to the stupid mall. what should I do?

  1. Tell your mom you really like him and that you respect yourself.  You are not out to sneak around behind her back.  Tell her that you want her to trust you so you are not going to abuse your privileges.

Tell her how much you would like to spend time with him and get to know him and this should make her think back to when she was younger and in the same boat.

Tell her that you won't meet him at the mall if she doesn't want you too, but that you are hurt that she doesn't trust your motives or your judgment.  Tell her even if you did meet him somewhere that it would be a public outing and that you wouldn't go anywhere private with him.

Understand that this is a stranger to her and a "man."  In her defense, she just doesn't want you raped or taken advantage of and dumped or worse.

You need to foster trust between you and your mom.  She is your best friend in this world... even though she has to play the tough cop sometimes.  Suggest maybe that he stop by to meet your parents or that you hang out and play video games or watch a movie around your house when your parents are home to meet him.  (Preferably, they respect your privacy a little, not that you'd be in your bedroom or anything.) :)

Good luck and 2 years isn't that big of a gap in age... it is, however, a potentially big gap in maturity, sexual experience, and expectations of a relationship. And it is illegal if you sleep with him while you are 16.

If he respects you and is into you... he'll bend over backwards to date you and just to be around you.  Your parents will read his attitude and if he is as nice as you think... there won't be a problem in the near future when you want to go out and meet him in public.

    Good luck!

  2. Talk to your mom. Find out why she is upset by this.

  3. how is he a kid at 18 and you can't really do anything
