  1. Addiction means you cannot stop at will regardless the size of your bet. Since you have been doing this consistently for 5 years, then I would say yes that you do have an addiction to gambling.

  2. That is not addiction in the broad sense, unless you can't resist placing bets, but spend money you can't afford to lose.

  3. Gambling implies there's risk involved. If loosing $5 or $10 impacts you in a negative way then you have some other financial issues to sort out. If it makes the game more interesting to watch, then have at it. If your $5 bets turn into $500 bets at some point in order to get the same thrill, well that's a different story.

  4. A gambling addict is someone who gambles on a very regular basis.  Perhaps every day.  They bet amounts of money they cannot comfortably afford to lose.  They often destroy their financial well being by borrowing money to gamble with, stealing, or otherwise spending money they can't afford.

When they get into financial trouble, they kid themselves that they can score a big win to get themselves out of trouble.

If you have small regular football bets for amounts of money you can easily afford to lose, you are not a gambling addict.  Just as guys who get together once a week to play poker for quarters are not gambling addicts.

  5. wages like the ones you put forward are harmless depending on your money you make in your career. your an addict to get down to the point because those 5 years are gonna turn to 10 years then to 15 years etc.

  6. Depends whether you are winning or losing.

Let me guess - You are losing.

So you'd be better off not gambling.

  7. If you bet on small amount consistently for 5 years without increase the bet amount, then you are not addict. Those gambling addict will bet more and more, first year maybe $10, second year might go for $20 and so on.

  8. Seems to be some disagreement here.  First we need to be clear on what we mean by "addiction" here.  There's good addictions and bad addictions.  For instance I'm addicted to food and that's a good thing actually but some people are addicted in a bad way.  Whether you're addicted or not is something that we can't know although you can, based upon what it's like to give it up.  You may not wish to though and it's not even a matter of what you're winning or losing it's whether you feel you're getting your money's worth or not.  You tell me ;)
