I like to work for an online brokerage like Etrade. How do I get started?

I'm a science major. Can I get in even if I have no formal Finance background? and can anyone give me a idea how much they pay?

The last answer is a good idea.  You should look at their web site to see what kind of jobs are available, and more importantly what are you interested in doing.  The job description usually gives you a really good idea what kind of skills and training you'll need to obtain.

For example, if you want to be an analyst, then you will need to work toward CFA.  If you want to be a trader, you'll have to start with passing Series 63 and 7.  

Before you know what position you want to pursuit it is too early to discuss salary.  However, to give you an idea - an entry level roll at a call center pays about $30k-$40k.
