I listen to trance and sometimes the music invokes feelings in me that I can't explain, there are no official words for these feelings.. Does this happen to anyone else? I used to listen to hiphop, rock, alternative back in school and I didn't even come close to feeling these emotions.

  1. Thats why music exists, to express the inexpressable.

(a famous musician, I can't remember who, in response to a critic who asked him to explain his music said: "if I could have expressed it in words I wouldn't have written the music")

    ...works for me.

In fact I would even take it one step further, if someone pretends to be able to fully describe music with words and logic then they have missed the point.

  2. You might find Kurt Leland's "Music and the Soul" and David Tame's "The Secret Power of Music" worthwhile, as they explain feelings like yours.

    http://www.last.fm/music/Robert+Miles may be worthwhile...

  3. The first time I got drunk, I played the song "Black Hole Sun",  since then, every time I listen to that song, I get the chills. It's all about past experience, and association.

  4. there is no words to express verbally those, not just verbally , also mentally...Only you may recognize and understand that feelings, no one else, although many have similar experiences. Those feelings is not of a Mind, but of Consciousness. Know thyself. Trust yourself. As it had been said; you'll know the Truth and truth will set you free...

  5. Euphoria?

I think I may know what you mean with certain songs, but not trance.

  6. Let your feelings continued to be unknown.Don't think too much about it.
