I will be registering the car at my home address in NH.

I am also looking at buying from a dealer in Mass

  1. Since NH does not have sales tax, you will not have to pay it even if you buy a car in MA. Just tell the dealer that you will be registering the car in NH and they will complete the required forms for you to take to town hall and registry

  2. Yes when you register your car in NH you will pay the sales tax then.

You cannot fudge the amount since you must show bill of sale for registration.
