I live in Calgary, Alberta, I have worked there for 2 and a half months. Due to lack of work, they have decided to let me go, although they said they would let me continue to work there until I find another job. Does this technically bypass the law? Please help.

Thanks!

  1. No, you do not get severance pay for something like that.  Severance pay is usually for employees of long term when the company is closing up or relocating, or due to restructuring, the company is offering a long term, or older, employee a 'buyout' or early retirement option.  Things of that nature.  Being let go due to lack of work after 2 1/2 months garners you nothing.

  2. no severance pay for so little time worked.
