There is no way I can see of ensuring the Yahoo stays with UK and Ireland. This fall back to Yahoo France is irritating

  1. I think you have to configure your web browser to have English as the default language, or trick your computer into believing it's still in UK/Ireland.  I am in the Philippines, and my computer knows this and always goes to Google.com.ph, but I use Yahoo-U.S. and it seems to stick there just because my default language is set to U.S. English.

  2. Well only go on yahoo.com not the france site

  3. The advice given by others RE: setting your homepage to www.yahoo.com.  BTW, you need to speak some French to get the maximum enjoyment of living in France (or even to function).  Since you speak English, you'll find French one of the easier languages to learn since many of the nouns and some of the grammar is similar.  OTOH, many ppl move to the US, apply for welfare, live in taxpayer supported public housing for decades and never learn English.  One of those ppl had the gall to tell me that I should "go back to Texas" bc I did not speak his foreign language.  Maybe you can find some French friends who know some English and they can teach you some French.  Or you could find a tutor to help you learn the basics of French.

  4. I know what you mean. I live in France too.

What really annoys me is that when I go to google.com and do a search, it always gives me French language results - even when i specify "search the web" and not "French language search".

For yahoo, just make your homepage "www.uk.yahoo.com", that's what I do !

  5. make sure you go to yahoo.co.uk

  6. Living in France and not speaking the language is this not a bit sad?

  7. Change your homepage settings.

  8. I had that problem too, even typing the address by hand would not work and I would be rerouted to the French Yahoo. After fighting back to go to the yahoo.com site for a few days I now have my previous Yahoo home page.

What I did was go to Yahoo news which did not suffer from that rerouting and from there segue into yahoo.com, I guess even servers can register obstinate use of another yahoo and take it into account.

  9. The only reasonable way to act is to learn french! I did it myself and You won't regret it, believe me...

  10. change your homepage

  11. It's so evil

  12. Edit your profile, and change the bit where you selected "Prefered Contents, Yahoo France" back to United Kingdom..

  13. Well, there's only one solution : go back to UK or Ireland. have a nice trip.
