I will be looking to travel in July. I only want 3-5 day cruise. It's myself (25 male) and a friend (24 female), not dating, just college friends wanting to take a cruise to celebrate our birthdays so please no info geared towards couples. Location is up for review, we don't have a set place we want to see.

Include any website info if available. Thanks!

  1. Check out www.vacationstogo.com

They have a great search engine that includes length of cruise and departure port.

If you want to sail out of Galveston to save on airfare, the Carnival Ecstasy is the only ship that does a less than 7 day trip.  She is a smaller, older ship but offers a good time. She visits Cozumel, a very developed tourist port and Progresso, which is a developing port. Some people don't care for Progresso but I had a good time shopping in the open air market.

If you up for a bit of a drive, the Carnival Fantasy leaves out of New Orleans. She is a sister ship to the Ecstasy.  But she also visits Cozumel and Progresso on her 5-day run.

The Carnival Holiday leaves out of Mobile, AL but she is the oldest and smallest ship in the Carnival fleet.

For departures from the Port of Galveston, we recommend the Carnival Conquest.  She is a larger, 110-ton ship and her ride is much smoother than the Ecstasy.  She visits Cozumel, Grand Cayman and Jamaica.  We took this trip for Spring Break last year and will return for a June 2008 trip.

Warning about summer cruises...hurricane season runs from July to November.  We got caught in the Gulf of Mexico in July 2005 between tropical storm Cindy and Hurricane Dennis. Our itinerary was changed and it was very rough the night we were trying to out run the hurricane.

Stay up to date on the changing passport rules for sea travel in 2008.  http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbp...

  2. The only cruise that goes out of Galveston is the Escasty on a 3-5 day.. Take a look at rates and what kind of cabin you want. The shorter cruises usuallly have a younger crowd. Good Luck!

  3. Check out the Carnival Ecstasy at www.carnival.com .

It does short cruises out of Galveston.

  4. Do anything you want, just don't go on NCL or Carnival.

Go with Royal Caribbean, Princess, or Celebrity.
