I live in IL and have a new loved one who moved here from Thailand and am looking for support grps/ctrs. in IL

Hello,

My name is Karin. I have a Aunt whom is Thai and has been here for less then a year (she married my Uncle). I have researched all over the Internet for support groups, help with jobs, and in general a place she could go to for help. Her name is Tuey and she lives in Lombard, Illinois. I am in desperate need of a community center or support center for her. This is my Uncle's wife and he is less supportive of her, but our family has fallen and is in love with the sweetest person I have met in my ENTIRE 29 years of age. I did not know who else to contact and if you can give me ANY information I would be entirely grateful to you! You may e-mail me at k_olhava@. Please help me so that I may help Tuey integrate into her new world. She is taking English lessons and she understands better then she can speak but she is understandable and has the drive to learn. She recently applied at Wal-mart and she would be working the 2nd shift from 10pm-8am. She would have to take the train and at that time of night and not being familiar with the surroundings it terrifies me! Like I said before any help of resources would be appreciated!

There are a ton of Thai restaurants in Chicagoland.  You might want to hook up with the one nearest to you and talk to the owners there.  I am sure they could discuss the Thai community in Chicago.
