I live in the suburbs of Chicago and I want to work at this local puppy store, I've wanted to work there ever since I was little. I'm not sure if the guy will hire me because i'm only 14. Anybody got any ideas on what I should do about it?

  1. Sorry, unless its one of your family members that own it, then u don't really have a chance.  Try corn detassling or delivering newspapers.

  2. Show him that you are responsible and mature enough to work there. Tell him you will fill out a resume and have an interview to show him you are serious aout this.

  3. Sorry to say it, but you have no chance when you're 14.  The best you can do right now is volunteer.  However, the good news is once you're 15 it is possible!  There are special work permits you can get.  But even then, you would only be able to work certain hours and not so much a week.  Illinois is pretty strict about these laws.  It helps prevent child labor.  If you just want to be around the dogs then volunteering is the way to go.   If its for the money...sorry

  4. def. ask.

  5. You should just ask him if he will let you.  Maybe you can work without pay and when he sees that you really want to do it, he might pay you a little something.
