I live in India. Want to buy a 3skypephone from uk for VOIP. Are there any carrier restrictions, legal or technology issues ?

Skype definitely works in India. My daughter's friend moved from Canada to Bangalore and they communicate all the time. The only concerns you will have are the actual connection speeds at either end. You need a fairly good broadband connection (at LEAST 512kbs) to do video and audio together. Otherwise you get drops, holes, frozen images and gaps in the audio. If it becomes too annoying, you can turn off the web cams and use all the bandwidth for uninterrupted audio.
