It is around bloom time. The temp is up and down. How far down can the temp be before I need to cover the tree. Last year a frost killed my apple output. Trying to avoid this year.

  1. The last Frost date for Indianapolis is April 17th. The average temp. will be 49 - 53 degrees, with heavy precipitation through out the Great Lake region in April. Temperatures will sink back to normal, around 46 degrees through out the region, the first week of May. Precipitation will be moderate, with heavy rains the 4-6 and 9-15th. A cold spell may develop around the 14th followed by rain. After a week or so temps will rise, but still be below normal. In June, the temp. will be in the mid-60's, with heavy rains through the month. July's average temp will be 74 degrees with an increase in precipitation, sometimes heavy. August's average temp will be 73.5 degrees, with low to moderate precipitation. So, if you don't get a frost with in the next week or so, your Apple crop should be safe. As long as the heavy storms don't damage the trees. Good luck!
