  1. Call Customer Service and tell them you want to cancel. I'm guessing you just got the service. If your agreement has not expired, you'll have to pay an early termination fee, and you may need to return any equipment that you leased. That is about it.

  2. it depends on a few things.

First, when did you activate your last new receiver (new to your system or replacement, it doesn't matter - so long as it's never been on your account before)? What kind was it?

The best way to figure it would be to assume these charges:

standard receiver: 18 mo commitment and $20/mo not fulfilled

DVR, HD, or HD-DVR: 24 mo commitment, $20/mo not fulfilled.

If you activated your most recent piece of equipment before a certain date the commitment is only 12 months for a standard receiver and the fee is only $12.50/mo for either kind. I just can't remember off the top of my head what the date that change took place on was.

You can easily find out either way by calling customer service and asking any CSR what it would be. I would recommend calling late at night or early in the morning so you're not on hold so long if at all, though.
