My husband and I live in Kentucky and we are wanting to go somewhere and take a short vacation out of state, he only has a 5 day vacation. What do the surrounding states have to offer? Like West Virginia/and Ohio. I don't mean like Indiana we have been to Indiana many times and don't really care for it. We just want a short vacation where we stay in a hotel for a few nights and there are several shops and a downtown type area we can walk around and grab a bite to eat. Maybe even go to a mall.

  1. West Virginia should be your choice.  It's inexpensive, has friendly folks, has great scenery, and there are many things to see and do.  See Huntington on the Ohio River and see the old brick city mansions, then on to Charleston which sits on the Kanawa River and has a hilltop airport which took more excavation than  the Panama Canal.  Then, go upstream of the Kanawa or New river and see the communities and the tremendous New River Gorge.
