I live in NC I came home late last night and saw an animal in my yard i and think its a bobcat is that likely?

So I live In a small town just outside of a place called Greensboro North Carolina where alot of people live around but the houses are mostly spread out and there is alot of wooded areas but i came home really late last night and saw this huge animal walking across my front yard and assumed it was just the usual dog roaming but as i called for it and whistled i noticed that i was kind of big to be a dog and i could see muscles and it appeared to have pointed ears and a short tail but it was kind of dark and hard to see I belive it was a bobcat but everyone i have asked about it think im full of it i was just wondering if this was possiable?

YES this  could of been, all animals are on the move since humans are destroying the land they live in so they MUST find new places to survive and this sounds like the same thing is going on there as well as all over the USA Did you not see the bear in Calf? this bear tore a car smack up. so don't be surprised to see this cat again

Sure it's possible.  They're not a threat to you, and they're beautiful creatures when stationary, and awesome to watch when they're on the move.

In my area, a fair amount of study is underway to understand the dynamic of these creatures living in urbanized areas.  But people still confuse them with mountain lions, people still question whether these creatures are a threat to them, their children, and their pets.

I got to enjoy seeing a bobcat recently, in broad daylight, about 15 feet away.  It was birdwatching, and stayed for an hour.  Several people got wonderful pictures.  Now I look for it everytime I pass by that spot.  And, I reported it to the folks that keep track of bobcats in the area, so this individual is now on their radar, so to speak.
