  1. I just moved to FL from NJ, so I can give you and updated answer.   =)

As long as your license isn't expired, you don't need to take a road test.  What you do need to do is take a vision test before they give you the license.  Don't ask my why, but they want you to take it, even if you have a valid license and a clean record.  If you get your license from the DMV, it'll cost you $20.  If you get it from a tax collector office, it'll be $25.  To register your car, you need to bring your title, registration, and your new FL insurance card with you.  You have to establish a FL insurance first before registering.  If you are financing your car and are unable to attain the title, you must give them the address and phone number of your lienholder.  You'll receive a letter from either the DMV or tax collector when your lienholder hands them the temporary title.  You are expected to pay the registration fees 10 days from the letter date.  Once you go back, show ur old registration card and insurance card just in case, and right there you'll receive your free standard plate and registration card.  The fee will be around $180.  If you are leasing a car, it'll cost you a little bit more.  If you wish to purchase a specialized plate, it will be around $30 depending on which plate you get.  You renew your registration by the end of your birthday month.
