I live in New York and was wondering what the average size of a parallel parking spot was.?

Are you talking about the test?  They usually choose something about 1.5 to 2 times the size of your car to park.

I live in NYC (the city), and in reality the most parking spots here are about 1 foot in front and 1 foot behind the car.
