It appears that operating a personal watercraft is the only time everyone must have a license. I live in Huntington, and have been on the water for over 40 years, but I didn't know I ever needed a license. Thanks for having me look. Down below you'll find a website for guidelines based on state. Then you'll find a link to a NYS page that contains the license requirements. Then a link to the boating safety courses to be offered in Suffolk County and finally a link to the courses offered in Nassau county. Good luck and safe boating....

You need a boaters ed card. At least in my state you do im not sure about new york but its prolly the same. its really easy to take. you take it online and then you can always cheat. But that card lso allows you to drive a boat too.
