  1. Hi!

Unfortunately, hamsters are banned in NZ ( at least for now;)). It is not an endemic species and the government doesn't allow the import of hamsters in order to protect the natural flora and fauna.

There have been cases when  a 43-year-old woman sneaked a hamster in the airport. She sprayed herself with perfume in order to pass the airport beagle, put the hamster in her pocket and passes the security. Even  if she managed to fool the airport guards, she faced a trial after two years when Police found out about her hamster Eric.

I know that a hamster is cute and funny, but you have to buy another pet in order to avoid a trial:).

    Hope this helps!
