  1. Most people live in a wood frame house, typically 2000 square foot, on a small plot of land. 5000 sq foot is typical lot size.

The houses are surrounded by lawns. We all spend our summers alternately watering the grass and mowing it so that it is green and short.

Houses are connected to the electric system, natural gas distribution system, telephone, television cable, sewer, and water system.

Houses have two or three bathrooms with toilet, sink, and bath with running hot and cold water. Hot water is typically stored in a hot water tank for ready use.

Central heating is necessary due to cold winters.

Kitchens are equipped with refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, and microwave.

Many houses have garages meant for parking the car. most of us store junk in the garage and the car is left outside in the driveway.

Many homes have a TV set where people spend inordinate amounts of time watching hockey.

Household garbage is typically picked up by the city once per week and brought to a landfill site.
