  1. left pic is a pomegranate; right pic is a kumquat (a sort of citrus like fruit used a lot by asian people.  neither require a lot of care or tending; just an occasional deep watering.

as for pomegranates, they are best left on the tree until they start to split, usually november.  if you get cold weather, that is when they become sweet, though some varieties are ready to eat as early as august.

as for the kumquat, check references books at the libarry

  2. could be a pomegranate.

  3. I am going to take a shot here, but that looks like some type of Pomegranite.

I know there are several species of the fruit, and judging from the red seed clusters inside the husk, I would venture a guess this is what you have.

I would take that cutting that you have and shoot down to one of your local Nurseries to be sure.

    Addition:

I just had a look at Wikipedia.  You have what is called a White Pomegranate.  If you have a look at their website, you will find a picture of your tree.

But again, just to be absolutely sure check with your local Nursery.

If they confirm that this indeed a White Pomegranate, then drop me a line.  Got a recipie for Pomegranate Jam that is a must have!

    Good Luck!
