I live in St. Louis, Missouri. Do my tax dollars $30 million really go toward paying for a football stadium?

They decided they did not like the old Edward Jones Dome, so now they need to renovate it at the cost of $30 million.

Most stadiums are owned by the cities that they are in and the sports teams have a lease with the city. Very few stadiums are private ventures or owned by the team.

Since the city owns the stadium it is supported and paid for with your tax dollars the same as any other public building the city owns.

Sports teams bring in huge amounts of tourist dollars. Money spent on hotels, meals and entertainment.

The venues also create revenue by rentals for conventions, concerts and other functions that need  to accommodate large crowds.

Depends on the lease with the City  People think sports and sports stadiums are dumb, but I mean look how much it can bring a city together.  The Saints are a great example of that.
