  1. Being from the UK, i had a similar problem.

I figured, being a Utd fan (aka Red 'Devils'), New Jersey would be the team. (both wear red/white/black too).

So, they don't play the most exciting hockey, but once you pick you can't change (and i don't think i could)

  2. You can't go wrong with the black and gold. Pittsburgh Penguins fans are absolutely crazy. I believe Pittsburgh has the best fans around in almost any sport hands down.

The Penguins are going to dominate the NHL in the next few years with rising superstar Sidney Crosby. This guy is amazing and he isn't even in his prime yet. We also have great management. Mario Lemieux owns the Penguins and he is one of the nicest people around and not to mention (in my opinion) the greatest hockey player to have ever lived!  My suggestion is to come visit the U.S. and find a team you are comfortable with and enjoy watching. Have Fun!!

So if you like to watch great games and a great crowd become a fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins. They are some of the most talented guys in all of hockey (and youngest). Not to mention they treat the fans great.

    Enjoy hockey season this fall!

Oh yeah I almost forgot, don't listen to Spaceboy he is a total waste of life!!

  3. Go for the mighty MINNESOTA WILD in the Northwest Division!!  They're a new team (started in the NHL in 2000) & getting better each year. You say you like teams located in areas where hockey is the sport - well, Minnesota is a BIG hockey state!!

Another selling point is Minnesota is one of the northern states - true hockey territory in the US (not like places such as Texas, Arizona, Florida, etc).

  4. Ottawa Senators they have the best Swiss player imo in Martin Gerber

  5. martin gerber is the starter for the senators.  mark streit is a free agent so whichever team signs him will be better.  If you like european hockey like me go with the capitals or red wings.

  6. I would go Calgary Flames.

They are canadian so its a huge Hockey city and they are a tough team with a great leader.

Im a leafs fan... you don't want to get stuck with us trust me:)

  7. Pittsburgh is mainly a football town until the season is over. Then, it is all penguins. Not too many bandwagoners until the playoffs. But that is the same for every team.

Good Luck... and if you can't decide wait until next season, see who is doing good, and jump on the bandwagon, and after you truly love the team all the bandwagoness goes away and you're a real fan. lol

Chris is excited - just out of curiosity, why are you excited for Saturday? lol

  8. hi

  9. Here are a few teams:

Detroit- have a wide fan base, Detroit is called "Hockey Town", but you may be acused of bandwaggoning

Toronto- A Canadian city that has a wide fan base as well (actually the biggest in the NHL) which is suprising because we havnt made the playoffs in 4 years and havnt won a cup in 40+ No Bandwagoners here!

the list would go on, but i have to go to school..

  10. Boston- rich in tradition, small city, and the team has a bright future although they haven't be great for a long time.

  11. Toronto:

    -A huge hockey city

-Right now they suck so you can't be accused of band wagoning

-When they finally win it will be a great feeling (but your gonna have to wait a while for the last one)

  12. Support a Swiss player.

Mark Streit the captain of the last Swiss Olympic team plays in Montreal.  He is a free agent, if he resigns elsewhere support that team.

Ottawa has Gerber( Swiss born goalie) but they have treated him poorly since he has been there.  Support the Habs!!

  13. The right team will find you! I said this earlier, if you dont have a default hometeam, the best thing you can do si follow as many games as possible and see what team grabs your attention.

But I also said earlier this week...Sabres fans make great cookies. Come to the dark side.

  14. Become a Sabres fan if you like to have your heart broken.

amdd- I just got a shirt like that lol

  15. go with the caps baby! they will be stacked offensively next season and they can go far

  16. Detroit

One of the oldest teams still playing

    Just won the Stanley Cup

Has been good for the past decade and a half

Not too many bandwagon fans (well maybe a little more now because of the Stanley Cup)

A LOT OF EUROPEAN PLAYERS, well over half, maybe even 3/4 of their team are Europeans.

    Mostly Swedish players

Seems to be the best run organization for the past decade and half or so.

  17. i would take a serious look at the pittsburgh penguins.  they are one of the youngest teams in the NHL and have arguably two of the best players in the league.  that and they just put up a mighty good fight against the red wings for the cup.  although the penguins have been getting alot of bandwaggon fans since sidney crosby joined the team, the city has been said to have the best fans in the league, which can be seen by how the fans rallied to keep the team when the horrid institution they like to call a government in the area didn't want to give them a new arena.  unfortunatly pittsburgh is better known for the awful steelers who couldn't play the sport for the lives of them, but the fans of hockey in this city have sold out the mellon arena for the entire season and post season, which will most likely continue into the next season.  if you want a city where hockey is THE sport try detroit. they are a hockey town, but the city is kind of nasty in my opinion, and i predict that the team will only decline success-wise in the next few years. the penguins are THE team to watch, and the sport has a rapidly going fan base in the area. and the bandwaggon fans in pittsburgh (although i dislike them as well) are actually really good fans. if you want evidence watch game 6 of the stanley cup playoffs.  the last 30 seconds or so when there was absolutely no hope for the penguins, the entire arena was on their feet cheering their team on no matter what.

  18. Support the Montreal Canadiens, where you live, breath, eat and drink hockey every day - except for the offseason + if you are a french talking swiss chap then you should go for a francophone team i.e the above. + Koivu is amazing

  19. You cant go wrong with the Red Wings! Four Championships in 11 years, and make the playoff every single season! Last time they missed the playoffs was like 1986.

Also, they have a ton of European players. Lidstrom is the first European Captain to win the Cup. They you have Samuelson, Datysuk, Zetterburg, Fippula, Hudler, Kronwall, Lilja, Frazen, Hasek, etc.

  20. Watch some hockey games first, people here will just tell you to be a fan of THEIR favorite team.
