  1. A power roof ventilator. You must have an entry source for fresh air though. This can either be vented soffit or a gable vent in the opposite end of the roof ventilator.

This roof ventilator will have a thermostat on it and the better models even have a humidistat on them.

You will need an electrician and a carpenter.

Have it done right and you will have a much cooler attic and lower a/c utility bills. Gravity vents take to long to move hot air, especially if there is no breeze or wind blowing.

    Good Luck

  2. You can have vents installed on each end or even have roof vents installed. I have both in mine.

  3. a simple soution is to install an attic fan that exhausts the heat out, best near the highest point.  A six inch inline fan is quiet, and only requires a 6 inch hole in the side of the house.  It can be wired with an extension cord that you could hook up with a timer or just manually plug it in when the weather is hot. of course a passive system is more economical. Installing two turbine roof vents one quarter the way in from both gables near the ridge, so they stick up, is what I did.

  4. install ridge vent.....

    lic. gen. contractor

  5. It dpends on how much attic space you have.  If you have more than 3 feet height space in attic, place gable fans in at each end of home.  If you have model that only had one foot of attic space, Have a professional come and have a sunroof that opens via a remote placed to remove heat from house.  there is packed insulation in the latter and no room to change things. If you have fixed sunroofs, change to openers or atleast install retractable shades over window on the inside to block heat .
