I live in a three story apartment. During a tornado what should I do?

You want to head to the lowest level of the apartment building and stay away from windows.  If you are friends with the people on the lowest level ask if you can chill there til the storm passes.

Get to the inner-most room on the lowest floor possible.  Then you pray, if you don't believe in a God, you will.

Myself, coming from a part of the US where Tornados are common events, I would get away from a structure taller than a single level dwelling. A basement is not always the safest place to be. But if that is the only option find a corner that is supported with walls. Have a cell phone or a two way radio with you to seek out help if you need it. Be sure to have some food and water with you, it could be awhile before they find you. And by all means make sure you have a flash light with good batteries.
