the upstairs tenant broke his toilet tank and resulted in water pouring into my bathroom for 30 minutes. The work has been completed, replacing the ceiling and floor. No fixtures were replaced. I had to miss 3 days of work, can I deduct my rent for this time off?

  1. Why did you have to miss work for this issue?

No, you cannot deduct lost work days from your rent.

The only time a tenant is entitled to a deduction is when the premises are unhabitable.

  2. Jana P, I moved from Wisconsin to New Hampshire last year, so I'm not sure who I could call to help you. Here is a resource of apartments in Wisconsin that you can contact. http://www.findanapartmentonline.com/Wis... I'm sure someone can help you.

Hope you find what you need

  3. I would tell your landlord that you would like to before you try to do it.  THe nicer you are when you present your info to him the better. You can't do it without the landlord agreeing to it, or a court agreeing to it.
