  1. Arizona

    Learning Permit Age: 15.6

    Restricted License: 16

    Full License: 18

This is what I found and if it has changed just call the DMV and ask, one more month wont kill you.....

  2. A number of documented driving studies have indicated that youthful drivers could benefit from the education and experience required by a graduated driver licensing program. While the laws vary from state to state the intent of the class G license contains three basic stages:

    Instructional permit stage

Restricted or probationary stage (the class G in Arizona)

Full license stage (class D in Arizona).

A class G driver is not required to have an adult driver in the vehicle. There are no passenger restrictions on class G drivers. It is not necessary to graduate from high school before obtaining a class G license.

A graduated driver license is issued to an applicant who is at least 16, but less than 18 years of age and is valid to operate any vehicle that does not require a motorcycle or commercial license.

An applicant for a class G license must have held an Arizona instruction permit for at least 5 months, or have a driver license from another state. The permit must be valid at the time of application. An applicant must also have satisfactorily completed a driver education program that is approved by MVD or the parent or guardian must certify in writing that the applicant has completed at least 25 hours of supervised driving practice, including at least 5 hours at night.

That is current law, and has not changed, nor are there any plans to change it.  However, for whatever reason those who already have their license seem to delight in continuing the rumor that as of a certain date, you will need to be 18 to get your license.

I even heard the rumor way back in 1956 when dinosaurs roamed the earth and I was in high school.  *grin*

It wasn't true then, it isn't true now.

  3. Back when I turned 16 in Arizona (9 years ago) You could get your permit at 15.5-6 months. But when you turned 16 you had an unrestricted license.

No limits on time, passengers. You could get your motorcycle endorsement at 16 as well.
