  1. IT IS ILLEGAL TO SEND CASH  I.E BANKNOTES, in the mail. period

  2. your cash will never make it b/c as soon as a postal worker sees the cash, they will take it.... so you might want to send a cashiers check instead.... you only need 1 stamp for that... or try taking it to the post office on the inside, and see if they dont laugh at you for wanting to mail cash... they wont even accept it!

  3. First, I wouldn't send cash in the mail. Buy a money order at the post office, they are cheap { I think about 75 cents}  and if they get lost you can get your money back. Just a regular stamp should get it to Va {that's where I live so I'm sure about that}. I think stamps are 43 cents now. I haven't mailed anything in awhile so ask at the post office because they may have gone up.

  4. post office, dhl and fedex forbid sending cash by mail.

plus tons of mail gets lost ever year, so you have no recourse if it is lost.

send a check or money order from the post office.

in addition for future reference, how many stamps you need depends on the weight of what you are mailing. so we wouldn't be able to answer this anyways as it would depend on the number of bills your sending.

a 42 cent stamp (or forever stamp) is good for a standard first class envelope weighing up to an ounce. so if you are going to ignore our advice and mail cash anyways, seal it in the envelope and get a postal scale (or even a food scale that can measure by the ounce) and weigh the sealed, addressed envelope.

also if your going to ignore our advice about sending cash, at least send it in a security envelope, one of those ones with the blue print inside to prevent it from being held up to the light and see whats inside of it.

  5. Don't send cash in the mail unless you use "registered mail," and insure it for the amount of cash you've included.  Check out the usps site and see what kinds of services you think you might want to add, like "proof of delivery."

Just for your edification, it isn't "illegal" to send cash in the mail, it's just not wise.
