  1. I don't think that living in New York solely supported by a part time job will work.  To start, rent is way too high.  Add in tuition, food transportation, entertainment etc  ,  You can see where I am going with this.

  2. I think you really have to do some serious planning.

1st you can't just "move" to the US. You need a VISA, working or student.

2nd I don't think you realize the cost of going to college in the US. A private college (such as NYU) is going to run you about $45,000 a year with room and board. An out of state public college (such as SUNY) will cost you close to $30,000 a year with room and board. A part time job isn't going to be able to support yourself. A studio apartment in Manhattan will run you about $1500 to $2000 a month.

3rd learn a little about the geography of the NYC metro area. The boroughs are part of NYC.

My suggestion is to stay in Canada. You will be able to get your education at a much more affordable price. If you still want to live in the US after graduation, look for a job in Canada with a US company or a Canadian company with US offices and then try for an internal transfer to the NYC office after you get a track record in said company.

  3. I came across some facts on New York City (see source below) and hope through reading it, it may help you out. All the best.
