  1. No harm in trying.  I've found that firemen are for the most part very friendly and are generally proud to show off their firehouses.  Besides, what else is there for them to do when they're not on a call?


  2. Yes, but  I would go to the fire  station first, without the kids, to ask the Captain when is a good time to come by. for a tour.

    Contrary to the first answer, firefighters DO TRAIN every morning that they work, on various aspects  of their classroom   job knowledge, and also on practical use of equipment on their  trucks.
