I live in florida and claim head of household can my wages be garnished for student loans? I have tried asking them if I could give them 20 30 a month anything to pay something but they just give me the option of defferal and would not take a payment so small and would have continued to harass me. So I took the option of deferment from one of companies I owe. But unless I all of the sudden start making 40,000 I wont be able to make the payment. I do not know what to do at this point any advice will help.

  1. Yes your wages can be garnished.

  2. I beg to differ, in the State of Florida if you claim head of household your wages are 100% exempt from garnishment.

I have posted a link in the source box so you can see for yourself.

  3. Yes your wages can be garnished. If your credit is still good see if you can get a consolidation loan where the monthly payments are more flexible.
