  1. Ponds and marshes are the best places but any body of still or sluggish water might have some.

  2. Why would you even want one?!?!?! They can tear off your fingers or even your whole hand!!!!!

  3. i happen to live in Tennessee. It is VERY illegal to own or sale turtles in the State of Tennessee. Turtles carry salmonella and they are extremely dirty animals

  4. I'll tell you man snapping' turtle bit my thumb half way off and tore my dogs nose up

  5. You really shouldn't even be owning them...

  6. So TurtleSale.com didn't have any for adoption at this time?

I hope the other info. helped you to learn how to s*x them.

I don't live in Tenn., so can't answer this one for you.  lol  Did you contact fish and game in Pa.?  I've been told they ship (via a 3rd party).

But, if you check out Craiglist.com I've seen them listed there free to good homes (and good riddance!  lol).  Also, you can ask at your area pets shops, vets, reptile expos, and also on a ton of reptile forums.  Just google it.  Another good source for free and unwanted snappers is to call fish and game and get a number of a federal rehabilitor in your area.  They will be happy to supply you with unwanted snappers they are healing or housing (there is usually a form involved, and a fixed adoption fee).

Again, I hope this has been helpful, and good luck!
