  1. Unless you have a lot of money for a water bill and your neighbors haven't gone green yet, then water the lawn....otherwise wait until the rains come and learn to save rainwater in a barrel for future use. Water is a premium element in todays world so use it with caution.  If you lives closer I'd send you some rain water.   Missouri has broke even it own record for rainfall this year.   We are several inches over presently.

If you look at the 1st map I live in the blue section.  It is now mid July and has rained 3 or 4 days this week alone.

I sure wish I could send some to you.

  2. First of all, is it St Augustine or Bermuda?  Bermuda will turn brown in the summer, but it's just dormant.  It will green up again in September, don't waste the water.  If it's St. Augustine and it's brown, you have a big problem because it doesn't always recover.  The best way to water St Augustine is long and slow once a week in the very early morning or after the sun has gone down.  Also, don't cut it short, you want to leave it slightly long in the hot months to protect the roots.

  3. It takes lots of water like an hour twice a day. Aerating your lawn punches holes in the dirt so the water just doesn't sit on top and evaporate. It provides a short path from the sprinkler to the roots to provide maximum benifits from the water.Check with your rental store

  4. wait for hurricane dolly

  5. wait till next year
