I live in ireland and im trying to trace my dad, i have his name and where e from dunno where 2 start?

i was looking for my dad 2years ago as well and found his address from the registration office. I'm in australia and i don't know if its the same in  ireland but i just went in and told them his name and they looked him up for me. allot of people don't believe its that easy but it is. you don't need to tell them who you are or anything..

You could search him on facebook and get in touch with him that way. Alot of people do this.

genes or friends reunited? What about asking other family members on his side if you're still in contact with them? Salvation army? I hope you find him, good luck x

Start by asking your Mother, she must have known him 'once'

Is there any other family members you could ask? I have recently been doing some myself, and I am finding it very difficult. You may need to find out which city he was born in, date of birth etc. From here you might be able to check local parish/hospital records. Also, Ancestry.com is quoite helpful if you had a little bit more information. If you don't want to pay all that money, sign up for the free trial to get some information, and cancel it beofre the payment comes out. That way, you dont have to pay a penny!! Good luck
