I live in louisiana and I am wondering if someone out there has delt with adoption?

My husband wants to adopt my children and I love the idea of it. I am wondering what all this involves, how much it costs and how long it tends to take. Does anybody know?

Hi there.

The very first step in adoption is research, research and more research.  There are different avenues of adoption, each with their own benefits and drawbacks.  Things like cost, time frame, requirements are all dependent on what type of adoption you choose.  It's important to get all of the data you can from as many different perspectives as you can (from adoptees, adoptive parents, adoption agencies, social services for foster adoption, etc) before deciding if adoption is right for your family and if so, which avenue to pursue.

The idea of adoption is to provide a home for a child who needs one and being able to meet the needs of the child.

please get extra copies of their original birth certificates now.  if he adopts them, it will be illegal for the kids to get copies ever again.  they will be sealed, and you will be unable to open them.
