like my school's bookstore sells them at the same prices as abebooks and stuff, but i have like 18 books to buy and well some of them are almost $200 and the cheapest is like 50 so...you see my problem. I havent gotten any financial aid yet but i am expecting it, plus i want to buy my books cheaper and use the fin aid for tuition.

  1. Congress has recently passed a bill forcing schools and textbook companies to cut their prices.  The bundles of books that students are forced to buy are getting split, so students can purchase the text book without say a lab manual.  So, hopefully this will save some money.  As far as finding cheap books, I swear buy Amazon and Ebay.  Amazon will give you free shipoing on most books as long as your checkout total is over $25.  Also, checking out local, hole-in-the wall used bookstores can be diamonds in the rough.

  2. go to half.com.  search for your books by the ISBN number.  This is what I have done for this coming semester.  Not all of your books will be available.  I bought 4, and I will have 2 to buy when school starts.  But my books would have cost me over $1000, they will only cost me $550 or so.

And you need 18 books??  How many classes are you taking???

**edit**  One reccomendation I have: The 5 books you need for math anc chem may not all be required.  You may want to look into that.  Often times, I have found that a study guide that is "reccomended" I will not use.  So, hold off on those types of books until you get into your classes and see if you will really use them.

  3. try renting your textbooks, chegg .com, saves tons of money

  4. I have purchased books online from Amazom.com. You can find new and used books well below what they sell for in the bookstores. The only drawback is the shipping time. It can take weeks. In the meantime, check out the school library. They may have an older version you can use until your order arrives.

  5. I agree with the first answerer...I just got my books on Half.com and they had the best price after doing several searches.  Good luck!
