I am looking for something that is very easy to start up and maintain. I have my summers off and am looking to make some extra money. I dont want to have to do a lot of buying and storing of items. Something that is also cheap or free to start would be great!

  1. I used to sell The Body Shop at Home.  I will tell you the truth:  there is NOTHING easy to start up and maintain.  I made anywhere from $5000-$8000 a month but I worked my butt off!  Probably around 70 hours per week!  I just resigned due to "burn out" LOL but you really do get out of these businesses what you put into them!  If you are sure you want to start one, look for one that is just starting up.  You have a lot more opportunities for advancement.  I just began with a new start-up company that doesn't rely on home parties, just word of mouth repping for a great products.  I know most comp plans as I have researched many companies, you can email me if you want some honest answers about some of the companies.  I am non partial and know that you can do very well financially!  Good Luck!

  2. Any "at home business" like Mary Kay and Pampered Chef are going to talk you into thousands of dollars of inventory. Home parties just aren't the "thing to do" anymore. I've talked to women who loath getting invites and being pestered about "having a girl's night out"

The only one I ever saw that didn't kill your finances or require hundred's of thousands to run was Avon. But there are so many rep's out there, it's worthless to try anything.

If you do decided to go into anything, make sure to look online for information. Do your research, I know for MK you can go to PinkTruth.com, they also have sections on other companies in their discussion board. Check them out.

  3. Your not going to be able to start your own business for free. Your going to have to put some sort of investment into a business as well as time to build a business. some businesses are simple to do, some are not. Regardless of how simple they are or not, each business is going to take time to build.  How much time and effort you put into it, will depend on how quickly you'll make money.  They are not jobs where you sit around and accomplish nothing.  What ever industry you choose to get involved in, you will have to work.  With jobs, if you don't work or do what they want, you get fired and lose your income, in business if you dont' work, you don't make money. If your looking for something free that only pays you , then your looking for a home job which pays minimum wage. After taxes, your take home is below minimum wage.  Sorry, but No business is free to have. If they say it's free, then your really not owing it or even a share of it.  Most home based business cost under $500 to start.  They have the same income opportunity as a traditional business does without all the over head expenses.  So this means more profit for you. Just about everything you use in your home on a daily bases are tax write off's.  Things such as your phone, Internet, elecetricity, gas (or propane), cellular phone, and car expenses are all tax right off's.

There are so many different types of home based business to get involved in.  You just have to find the one that makes the most since to you.  One example is in the telecommunications industry.  My husband and I colaborated with the largest direct selling Telecommunications service provider in the world. A 15 year old International company. They market in Local and Long Distance telephone services, Internet, video phones, digital phones, VOIP, Satellite TV as well as all the major cellular phone providers such as Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Alltell, Nextell etc.  We save people money on services that they already are using and paying for each month and can introduce them to services that they don't have but would like. Everytime these people pay their bills, we make a percentage over and over again each month. That's one way you make money in this industry. We've been featured in several magazines like USA Today, Success, Fortune etc.  Inc 500 rated us the 22nd fastest growing company.  Donald Trump has endorsed our company, uses the products and is very involved in our company. It's a pretty simple business to have and we do it from home.  This is one option for you.

I also created a blog on my 360 yahoo homepage on home based business opportunities.  There are over half a dozen different ones to take a look at.  Information on scams and what to look for.  The truth as to why people call things a scam, why people fail and why a lot of people don't succeed in their businesses, businesses and the bbb as well as a few other things you should read and learn about.

  4. I am a Scentsy consultant.  We sell wickless candles.  The starter kit is only $99 (plus tax and shipping.)  You are not required to keep inventory.  Some consultants choose to do so in case they have any customers looking for last minute gifts.  Some consultants also do fairs (like craft shows...etc.)

Find something you really love.  It will be easier to sell that way!   I had considered Pamp Chef for a long time, but I just don't enjoy cooking very much (but I do like their products!)  As soon as I saw Scentsy, I pretty much signed up right away because it is totally up my alley!  I have really enjoyed it and people love the products.  It makes your house smell so good!

Feel free to email me through my website or profile if you have any questions :)  I'd be happy to answer them for you.
