Question:

I live in southern England, and I'm new to fishing?

I have just bought my first cheap package and aim to give it a try at the weekend.

My father and I have said one day we'll charter a boat and go sea fishing, from somewhere like Weymouth or Lyme Regis.

What exactly is involved in this sort of fishing, in terms of equipment needed (or is all provided) and cost (roughly)?

How long does the trip tend to last, what should I look for when chartering a boat and captain, and what can I expect to catch? Thanks!

  1. I've done this before. They have all the stuff. Cost, like 30-40 us dollers[each]. Time is 1/2 day, or full day. You will get any type of fish that swims by.

    Good luck, and good fishing.

  2. if you want a proper charter fishing trip, they tend to last between 8 and 10 hours, you keep what is legal size and the boat skipper will help you with rigs etc, you can also hire the rod from him aswell. look in sea angler or total sea fishing for more info, or e-mail me as i run a charter boat out of bournmouth

  3. Different trips will offer you different things. At most major holiday resorts at the seaside you can pay something like £10 each to go out on a boat with other people, and everything will be provided. You can also keep your catch. An average trip would probably last about 2hrs and you would probably catch makerel, whiteing etc.
