I am willing to take the sky equipment to Spain and I'm also wondering who can set it up? Is it more expensive to receive Sky Tv and internet aboard or will i continue paying the same via direct debit?

  1. you can receive Sky in Spain, it will require a large dish depending on which part of Spain (up to 2.4m in the south coast), but legally you would only be able to receive the freeview channels and using a non-Sky receiver (technomate, Humax, etc), the Sky equipment and subscription are for U.K. use only but at the moment there isn't anyway of stopping anyone from taking the equipment abroad and using it, but you would have to keep it registered to a UK address and keep paying the direct debits from a UK account and not inform Sky that you are using it abroad or they would terminate the contract ( you can use it for free but only receiving the Freesat channels).  The installation would have to be arranged with local installers.

The broadband uses a BT line connected to a Easynet enabled exchange so you wouldn't be able to use it in Spain, you would have to either find a local broadband supplier or if in a remote area with no broadband there is Satellite broadband ( VSAT) but the cost is a bit high, around 60 - 120 euros monthly use (depending on speed) and the equipment setup could be in excess of 500 euros.

  2. I would imagine so as Sky can be seen in all the Spanish bars and probably in the internet cafes.

  3. i have emailed you, hope it helps
