I think it is much easier to move to Canada from the UK (as I know they have an agreement). If you are a UK citizen, you still need a visa to stay in the States for more than 90 days so this is not so easy if you want more than temporary employment.

You can move if you can find a US employer to sponsor you for a visa. You'll need a good degree or Masters as well as experience in your field. The sponsoring company needs to prove that they can't find an American with the education and skills to do the job.
