I live in the suburbs in chicago and dont get to go downtown much, what are some good italian beef places?

I mean I've had portillos and buoana beef and small beef stands but any beef places that really rocked your world? And im also looking for good hotdog stands sort of like Gene and judes. Lemme know wh at you think and why.

If you've had Portillo's, then you've had the best. We won't have Italian beef sandwiches from anywhere else. No other place that I've tried can even compare to Portillo's.

I went to a place Al's Italian Beef on Touhy near Village Crossing.  Only went there once - not bad.  Had a drive thru which was nice.  A good site for you if you do not know about it is Yelp.com.  Check it out!

Susie's on Montrose and Kedvale in Old Irving Park. It's over by the Irving Park Rd YMCA, but just a couple blocks North. I miss their fries so much. They make just about any ice cream shake you can think of too. They're open 24/7, but the old lady owner with the glasses is a douche. Don't be afraid to be a douche right back.

But yeah, "beef juicy, sweet peppers, two hot dogs (one with everything, the other only ketchup), cheese fries, Oreo shake, and a green river phosphates."

If you are ever in the Evanston area, go to Mustard's Last Stand.  It is right outside the Northwestern Stadium and is legendary for hotdogs.  I knew people who would drive 50 miles just to eat there.... on a regular basis!  As with most places like this in Chicago... be prepared to eat some grease :)

In fact it is so good, I saw it as a Trivial Pursuit question and was so excited!  I was bragging to all my friends that I actually ate there :)
