Seek permission from your Operator and inform them that you are going to Dublin.

I'm with Vodafone & it costs me 29p a text if I use my UK phone in the Republic but you really need to check to with service provider, they may also have a special package you can use while you're in the Republic to make it cheaper to use your phone.
