I live in the united states but my dad lives in el Salvador?

Are you of legal age? I suggest you file a petition for him to be able to join you. You must have a job in order to prove that you can support him and/or finance the loooong procedure. Consult an immigration law office for sure.

You must be 21 and a citizen to sponsor him. You must prove you are able to support him,that includes living expenses and health care.
