I live in winnipeg and birds that are brown are flying everywhere, they are common!?

What type of bird are they? they are brown with dull red stripes on its head! please help.

i searched on google for winnipeg's commen birds and i looked at the bottom and it looked browm small with red above itd belly search it i cannot find the name though
