I live on a large estate in Blackpool and there is a little kitten approx 4 months old and just lately it has taken to crying outside my front door.

I have just fed it 5 servings of cat food and it seems to be okay for now. As you may well be aware we are in the middle of a credit crunch and as such all the local places within my area don't have enough money or enough pet food so there for cant take in any more pets. I am a pet lover and cant stand to see this little kitten suffer but I also have 4 cats of my own and I know that they will fight with each other. 2 Any one know how I can look after this kitten myself without the other cats fighting with it. Thanks

  1. It is easy to introduce a kitten to older cats. A kitten is not a threat to territory or food. They will have skirmishes but I bet they will do just fine. Give the little guy a escape pod that the older cats can't get him in and just let them get acquainted. As long as there is no blood don't interrupts the process and it will not take very long.

  2. From what I gather, being a cat outside in England is much safer than many other places.  If there is one kitten, there probably are many more, but lets focus on this one.

If you don't want to take it inside and try acclimating it to your cats, then provide a sheltered place outside.  And don't bring it inside to introduce to your cats without a full vet check up, so the kitten doesn't bring in diseases.  Getting the kitten spayed/neutered would be wonderful.

For shelter, it can be rather simple, to provide protection from the rain and weather.  Even a  plastic storage bin with holes cut in the side, and a weather tight cover would work, with some blankets or straw on the bottom.

Then, food and water put outside and the kitten will probably be all right.  After all, if it is 4 months already, it has some wits about itself, and probably would be happy to know where the next meal is coming from, and stay close.

That would also give you time to think about a next step, which would be introducing it inside.

  3. Cats just do that ... they establish who is alfa cat and the rest abide about it for a bit then another rowe brakes out.

let them be... they will workit ou.

  4. you could put that you have a kitten in the classifieds in case anyone lost it or wants it. Also, you could put it in petfinder.com classifieds.

  5. well you might think they will fight with each other, but relate it to humans, when we meet new people we dont hate eachother we need to get to know them. so i would suggest you let them meet with a fence or cage or plastic thing in between them and they  will gradually get to know eachother.
